When the initial discussions about the branding took place it was decided that the Dream Image North East branding needed to include a well known North East icon or landmark that would be instantly recognisable to its audience. After much research between the graphic designers and project co-ordinators the Angel of the North was chosen to best reflect this.
The artist of the infamous sculpture, Antony Gormley said “The angel was created as an evolving collective work from the firms of the North East and the best Engineers in the world”. This could also be said in relation to the Dream Image North East project which brings together local businesses and professionals working as a team to give something back to a truly deserving person.
The colours of the rainbow used in the branding were chosen for two reasons, firstly to create a look and feel of positivity and brightness and secondly to represent the diverse range of participants involved in the project and their kind generosity to give the chosen nominee an unbelievable experience. The strap-line of ‘a truly life changing experience’ was the finishing touch to this design.
Yvonne from Diamond Press and Design, the participant responsible for designing the branding, comments “The branding for any business or project is such an important element – it needs to get to the very heart of it. The Dream Image North East branding is so striking, uplifting and instantly recognisable – it completely reflects the essence of the project”.
